Charlize Theron, Seth Rogen Comedy 'Flarsky' Lands at Lionsgate (Exclusive)

Jonathan Levine will direct the film about an unemployed journalist who pursues his childhood crush.

Lionsgate has scooped up worldwide rights to the Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen comedy Flarsky, and will release it under its Summit Entertainment label.

Jonathan Levine will direct the film from a Black List script by Dan Sterling. The story centers on an unemployed journalist (Rogen), battered by his own misfortune and self-destructive ways, who endeavors to pursue his childhood crush and babysitter who now happens to be one of the most powerful and unattainable women in the world (Theron).

Point Grey principals Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver will produce alongside Denver & Delilah’s Theron, Beth Kono and A.J. Dix. Sterling will also executive produce alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake. Alex McAtee is overseeing for Point Grey and Erin Westerman for Good Universe. Production is slated for a fall start.

Lionsgate's Summit previously released Levine's films 50/50 and Warm Bodies. His next pic is the comedy Snatched. starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, which is set to be released by Fox on Mother’s Day. Levine also directed the pilot for the upcoming Showtime series I'm Dying Up Here. He is repped by CAA and Todd Stern at Weintraub Tobin.

Theron was most recently seen in The Huntsman: Winter's War and Sean Penn’s The Last Face. She will soon be seen in The Fate and the Furious and Atomic Blonde, which played at SXSW. The actress is repped by WME and Hansen, Jacobson.

Rogen will next be seen in James Franco’s The Disaster Artist . which debuted at SXSW, and his recent projects include voicing and writing the animated hit Sausage Party and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. which he also wrote and produced. Rogen and Point Grey are repped by UTA and Felker, Toczek.

Sterling’s writing credits include Girls, The Office, King of the Hill and The Interview. He is repped by UTA and Sloane, Offer.

The deal was negotiated by Jason Constantine, Eda Kowan, executive vp, acquisitions and co-productions, and John Biondo, executive vp, business and legal affairs, acquisitions and co-productions and finance, for Lionsgate. Michael Meyer, executive vp at Good Universe, negotiated on behalf of the producers.
